The Trustees

Teddington School is a single academy trust.  Its Board of Trustees is made up of people from the School's immediate and wider community.

From 1 September 2018, the Governing Board reconstituted to align with best practice. 

The composition of the Governing Board is as follows:

  • The Headteacher
  • Two elected parent trustees
  • One elected staff trustee
  • Nine co-opted trustees, appointed by the Board on a skills basis
  • Associate members as required, on a skills basis

Our Chair of Trustees is Ms Juliet Hartridge.

Our Vice-Chair of Trustees is Mr Andrew Oliva-Hauxwell.

The Governing Board is responsible for making sure that the school operates effectively to meet its charitable object, as set-out in our Articles of Association, i.e. to advance for the public benefit of education …. by establishing, maintaining, carrying on, managing and developing a school which offers a broad and balanced curriculum”.

The three core functions of the Governing Board are to:

  • ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • hold executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
  • and oversee the financial performance of the organisation and make sure its money is well spent.

Our Governing Board meets once each half-term and where relevant, calls meetings of sub-committees or working groups to focus on specific aspects of its work.

The Members

It is important for an academy trust to demonstrate a clear separation between its layers of governance.  As a single academy trust, Teddington School has five Members.  The Members are similar to shareholders of a company.  The broad function of the Members is to have an empowered Board of Trustees that is independent, high-performing and effective at making business decisions, so that Members do not need to exercise their powers.

Our Chair of Members is Mr Richard Spencer.
